What is Spinal Decompression Therapy?

Decompression therapy is a new non-surgical technology utilizing an advanced computer controlled traction system. This system has been clinically proven to be extremely effective in relieving neck, back, arm and leg pain provoked by spinal disc disease and arthritis.

How does it work?

Does it hurt?

Patients typically will be lying on their back on the comfortable table and are fitted with a support system that allows for specific traction at selected spinal levels.

How long are the treatments?

Patients usually undergo 20 to 24 treatment sessions. Each therapy session lasts between 15 and 30 minutes. Every patient is different and each case will be evaluated by the doctor during the consultation and examination. Decompression therapy is utilized in addition to Chiropractic spinal adjustments and exercises to improve biomechanical function and stability.

Can Spinal Decompression help my pain?

Each patient is different and no doctor can guarantee success, but clinical outcomes with this type of traction therapy have been shown to be effective in 86% of patients treated.

Is Spinal Decompression new?

Although traction therapy has been around for thousands of years, the Chattanooga Triton DTS computerized spinal traction therapy is new. Advances in equipment and procedures have dramatically improved effectiveness. How much will it cost?

Are there conditions where spinal decompression therapy is not indicated?

Spinal decompression therapy is not recommended for pregnant women, patients who have severe osteoporosis, severe obesity or severe nerve damage. Spinal surgery with instrumentation (screws, metal plates or 'cages') is also contraindicated. However, spinal decompression therapy after bone fusion or non-fusion surgery can be performed.
